MAIN TASK - SFX - HARRY YOUNG

Main Task - SFX

- We will use gun sounds downloaded from 'www.sweetsoundeffects.com' for when Yuxin and the assassins fire their guns (TOY). We will also use gun sound effects for when the gun barrel scene at the end of the film

-We will use animal sounds (lion) for the distributor scene, inspired by James Bond distributor MGM. This gives the film a more official feel as we are following the norm of the distributor yet adding our own humor.

.- We will use sound effects such as laser sounds for when the villains do their handshake to create humor for the viewer.

MAIN TASK- ACTION PLANNING- PROPS/ COSTUME/MAKEUP - MASON O'NEIL

Costumes/Props/Makeup

Costumes

Harry

During the making of our task Harry will be playing the role of ‘Em’ throughout the 2 minute opening. The costume that Harry will be wearing will be a blouse that we will borrow from the drama department; the use of the blouse will clearly establish that Harry is going to be playing the role of a female.

Scott

For the main task Scot will be playing the role of a villain and the costume that we will require for this role will be a Black 2 piece suit with a red tie. The red tie is used to indicate who the two villains are in the opening and we chose the colour red as it will stand out with the black suit.

Mason
Mason will also be playing the role of a villain in the making of our main task. Mason will also be wearing the Black suit with the red tie to show that he is playing the role of a villain along with Scott. We chose to use the suit and red tie as we both have black suits and that we look smart when playing our roles.

Yuxin
Yuxin is going to be the main character throughout the opening and he is going to be playing the role of ‘James Fong’. The main character has to be clearly established in the opening so we have decided to make the main character wear a grey 2 piece suit with a bow tie. We decided to choose the grey suit as it is a different colour and he will stand out from the others in the opening so he will be easily identified.

Props

 Toy gun
We will be using a toy gun with the character James Fong as he is an agent and it is stereotypical for an agent to have a gun within films. We are using a toy gun so we avoid any dangers associated with having a real one.

Tooth Pick

Glasses

Ear piece (Blue tooth device)
For the role of Em harry will be wearing a blue tooth device in his ear to indicate he is wearing a ear piece, we choose to use the blue tooth device as it looks like an ear piece and we don’t have access to money to be able to buy an actual ear piece

Brief case/Suit Case
The two villains with the main task will be carrying either a brief case or a suit case to resemble the smart look along with the suit. We chose to use tis prop to show that they look like they belong in the working class and that they are important as people high up in the work place and people with important roles carry round with them a brief case.

MAIN TASK- 9 FRAME ANALYSIS- MASON O'NEIL

1)    From the 1st screen shot of the opening of the film Nacho Libre we have “Nickelodeon Movies” appear upon the screen. This tells us that Nickelodeon Movies made the film, and this Company is an American motion picture production arm of the children's channel Nickelodeon.
2)   Paramount Pictures is a film studio, television production company and motion picture distributor, consistently ranked as one of the "Big Six" film studios of Hollywood; this shows us that “Paramount Pictures” are involved in the film. The Paramount picture production shown on the shot is in casual fonting.
3)   From image 3 the picture on the piece of paper could give the viewers an indication to what the film is going to be about or what it is going to involve, such as the drawing of the wrestler of superhero on the piece of paper. Also from that image we find out that the film involves Black & White productions.
4)   Screen shot 4 shows us who the main character is called and it also tells us who is going to be playing the main character. The image tells us that the main character is called ‘Nacho’ and this role is going to be played by Jack Black.
5)   This image shows the film title, ‘Nacho Libre’, the way the title has been presented can be displayed as an insight to the character as the ‘Nacho’ on the back of the cape has been made, this could also refer back the illustration on the piece of the paper earlier on within the 2 minute opening.
6)   Image 6 tells us that the character shown on the image (Nacho) is a religious person as he is shown lying by a cross in which looks like to be a grave of some sort. By him laying down on what looks like to be a grave shows that he is missing someone dearly.
7)   Image 7 tells us who the editor of the film is (Billy Weber) also in the image Nacho is getting whipped by 2 nuns with towels which indicates that he has done something wrong due to him being mischievous which could lead further in the film. The setting within the picture looks like it was set within the old times due to the stone buildings surrounding the characters.
8)   During image 8 it shows Nacho being punished as he is staining down with his mask on surrounded by 2 characters wearing some sort of poncho/gown, which looks like something you would find many years ago and also the bare walls, jugs and wooden baskets.
9)   The last image shows what Nacho looks like without his mask on and it forms an opinion of the character by his appearance towards his aspirations of become a wrestler, as we see the image of a young overweight boy in the images. Also during the image it tells us who the production designer, ‘Gideon Ponte’.

MAIN TASK- 9 Frame Analysis- SCOTT COLLER

TAKEN- 9 FRAME OPENING ANALYSIS

 1.  First shot is a close up of a young girl, the distorted composition suggests that the scene is of a past event. The happiness presented by the young girl is an important indicator of the content atmosphere in this opening scene, plus a contrast of attitude with the rest of the production.

 2.  Second shot is a close up of a birthday cake, indicating the girls age and establishing the story of the scene in focus.

 3.  Third shot is a close up of both the young girl and her mother. In this frame she is seen to be blowing out the candle on her birthday cake, possibly indicating a sense of aspire and happiness.

 4. Fourth shot features a close up of an unidentified character shown in low light, the distorted composition has been altered to a high definition image, possibly indicating an alteration in the time scale from the first few shots of the opening sequence.

 5. Fifth shot is a long shot of the main character with the actors name shown in clear, bold lettering. The long shot enforces the fact that he is alone in the room, in addition to this the low lighting suggest a dark, eerie atmosphere in contrast with the happiness at the beginning of the opening sequence.

 6. Sixth shot is an extreme close up of a karaoke machine manual, there isn't an explanation to the purpose of this shot which creates a mystery and interest for the audience.

 7. Seventh shot features a close up of a picture of a girl on a horse, likely to be the daughter of the main character because of the framing of the picture. In addition to this picture is the title of the film in clear, bold lettering. This combination suggests that it is infact his daughter that is the subject of the production.

 8. Shot eight features a fade out of the main title and shows an establishing shot of a car, representing a an alteration of change in time frame as it is now day time- possibly the next day from the previous shot.

 9. The ninth shot is a reaction shot of the main character conversing with an employee of a electronics store. The close up shot reveals the emotions on the characters face, and is likely to relate to the karaoke manual seen earlier in the opening sequence. It is here at which the main story begins.
